Get your rose coloured glasses out... the month of love has arrived

The month of LOVE has arrived and it's time to get your rose coloured glasses out as Dani Barrois @danibarrois aka The Pastel Foodie is sharing her most peachy picks for PINK destinations around the world plus her top Lapoche picks for a Valentine’s Day weekend away!

Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel - Cape Town, South Africa

The hotel is an oasis of calm within Cape Town’s beating heart and it sits at the top of my list. Set in the leafy foothills of Table Mountain, the Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel, sits pretty in pink. The hotel & grounds ooze old world charm and I recommend stopping by for the extremely affordable but ever so luxurious afternoon tea. It’s the perfect way to spend a sunny afternoon in Cape Town with fresh scones, big pots of aromatic tea, a dessert buffet and endless savouries. A stroll through the manicured grounds will have you wanting to check in for a while!

Royal Hawaiian - Waikiki Beach, Hawai’i

Ok, my first and second choices really could be interchangeable. So, say Aloha to the Royal Hawaiian. This place really needs no introduction. When you step onto the grounds of the 'Pink Palace' the hustle and bustle of Kalakaua Avenue evaporates and you realise you are now in paradise. Enveloped by tropical greenery I recommend exploring the grounds that will gift you with one of the most spectacular views of Waikiki Beach. If you like Pina Coladas, pink umbrellas on the beach and amazing service this is the place for you.

The Beverly Hills Hotel - Beverly Hills, USA

I visited the Beverly Hills Hotel for the first time last year and boy, did it live up to the hype. From the famous banana leaf wallpaper to the cafe by the pool every little detail is SO Hollywood. If the hotel is a little bit of a stretch for your budget and you’d rather save your pennies for Rodeo Drive (or the outlets!) you can still pop in and enjoy the whole affair with the seriously hip 1950s style Fountain Coffee Room or enjoy brunch by the pool under the ever so LA palm trees.

Hotel Amenjena - Marrakech, Morrocco

Morocco has been sitting on my #bucketlist for quite some time and although I am yet to visit, like any good traveller I’m already making a shortlist of where I HAVE to stay. Meet the Hotel Amenjena in Marrakech. Poolside pavilions, classic luxury all set within Morocco’s mesmerising landscape. Yes please!

Sketch - London, UK

Whilst it is not a blushing hotel, it is a rosey retro restaurant in London’s uber chic Mayfair. It is one part David Shrigley’s Gallery which serves afternoon tea and dinner, and another part Pierre Gagnaire’s two Michelin Starred Lecture Room and Library that’s open for lunch and dinner. It’s a wonderful mix of art, music, decor and culinary brilliance.

Dani's top Lapoche picks

When you visit your favourite places in all of their pastel goodness you definitely need to have your Lapoche essentials in tow. I first used my Lapoche pieces on my trip to Hawai’i last year and my life will never be the same.

I no longer pack my suitcase without Lapoche. When I was a backpacker (a very long time ago) we used a term called 'bag explosion' to describe the state of the hotel room/hostel after your luggage was unzipped and the contents found their way into every nook of the room. I carried this term with me over the years and now Lapoche has eliminated it from my vocabulary and on that trip to Hawai’i I actually unpacked my suitcase so quickly and neatly, I was in shock!

Here are some of my top picks for a romantic Valentine’s Weekend away (but really I will be taking my whole collection with me as I’m officially converted!!):

Socks & Jocks Tote: I’ll be gifting the Socks & Jocks Tote to a special someone this Valentine’s Day. No more rummaging about trying to find matching socks when your on the go or losing your smalls in the hotel room. It’s the perfect way to stay organised on the road.

Make-Up Bag: For me, I love that the Make Up Bag is water resistant and a great shape. It keeps everything organised in your carry on & means no spills. It also fits perfectly and isn’t bulky. Love the seperate compartments for storing brushes and all of the essentials.

Toiletry Bag: I love this bag! It’s compact, can fit the essentials for a weekend away and is easy to hang up and access on arrival.

Garment Cubes: Not only do the cubes condense your clothes into neat little cubes whilst also protecting them from the wild situation inside of your case as it moves through transit. The Garment Cubes make packing a suitcase so easy; they also make your clothing manageable when you arrive. Simply take them out, pop them in the hotel drawer or wardrobe and your clothes are ready to go.

Shoe Bag: I always carry plastic bags with me when I am on the road as I really don’t like the idea of packing my sneakers in amongst my clothes. Lapoche Shoe Bags offer a neat, clean and reusable solution to keep your kicks separate and also to protect them against the wild ride in your luggage throughout transit!

Happy Travels,
